The Design
In our opinion, every home needs a teapot—and every teapot needs a tea cozy! We designed this cute little cozy to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our shop. It’s a combination of a few of our favorite things—cables, tweed, and tea! We made sure to sneak in ten (X!) criss-crossing cables, too.
We knit this wee, 2-cup teapot version (a free adaptation to our original X x X Anniversary Tea Cozy) with two, tonal colors of Rowan Felted Felted Tweed marled together. This DK-weight blend of merino wool, alpaca, and viscose is a Churchmouse go-to—and it does a fine job of keeping a teapot warmer, longer!

The Free Adaptation
Please refer to the original pattern for complete instructions. Only changes are covered in this adaptation.
Bottom Ribbed Rows
Work as directed in original pattern, repeating Rows 1 and 2 five more times. [12 ribbed rows total]
Upper ribbed rows:
Repeat as for bottom Ribbed Rows 1 and 2, five times. [10 ribbed rows total]
Finishing:
For I-cord top: Work I-cord as directed in original pattern, repeating between * * for 3″/7.5cm.
Seam sides and block as directed in original pattern.
For pom-pom top: Follow instructions for button top as directed in original pattern through seaming sides. Instead of sewing a large button on top, make a pom-pom following instructions on pom-pom maker. Note: Use strong yarn or dental floss to secure pom-pom— Felted Tweed can break easily. With darning needle, pass tails a small distance apart to inside of cozy; tie together in a tight bow so you can easily remove pom-pom for washing. Note: We used a single color for our pom-pom, but holding two colors together will create a beautifully marled pom-pom!
Finish and block as directed in original pattern.
